Happy Birthday to You  ! Happy Birthday to You  ! May Birthdays
Several times a year we need to remind everyone of some of the rules we insist everyone connected with B&G to follow.  We want all of our employees to feel comfortable and safe when they come to work. These rules are intended to help insure that: We do not allow any drugs in our restaurants unless they are prescribed by a doctor or over the counter such as aspirin. We do not allow any fire arms or knives in our restaurants --- this means no guns or knives. We   do   not   allow   any   type   of   personal   protection   devise   that   cannot   be   kept   in   your   pocket.      If   you   need   to   take   it   out   of your   pocket,   then   leave   it   in   your   car.      For   example,   we   had   a   mace   sprayer   on   a   key   chain   left   on   a   counter   and another employee set it off and the restaurant had to be evacuated. We   do   not   allow   cell   phones   to   be   used   by   our   employees   in   the   restaurants.      The   primary   reason   is   for   your   safety.     We   were   robbed   once   and   the   police   were   convinced   that   it   was   because   someone   on   the   restaurant   team   used   a   cell phone to assist the robbery.  So, for each employee’s safety, we do not want cell phones in our restaurants. We   do   not   allow   anyone   to   open   the   back   door   after   dark.      This   is   about   the   most   irresponsible   thing   any   restaurant employee    can   do… the   back   door   being   opened   after   dark   is   recognized   as   the   number   one   cause   for   robberies   with deaths   to   restaurant   employees.      It   is   for   that   reason   that   opening   a   door   after   dark   is   a   reason   for   instant   dismissal.      It makes it possible for robbers to sneak in undetected and surprise the restaurant team. We   do   not   allow   anyone   to   open   a   lobby   door   after   the   lobby   is   closed.      Other   team   members   are   not   paying   attention to   the   lobby   after   it   is   closed.      It   is   a   great   way   for   a   robber   (especially   an   ex-employee   that   is   recognized)   to   enter,   they get   an   employee   that   knows   them   to   let   them   in.      It   is   the   second   best   way   for   those   intending   harm   to   enter   the restaurant.      We   do   not   allow   anyone   to   open   the   door   for   anyone   unless   everyone   in   the   restaurant   is   aware the   door   is   being   opened…that   includes   the   police.       The   only   exception   is   to   allow   customers   inside   at   close   to leave and employees leaving at shift end. We   do   not   want   anyone   taking   out   the   trash   after   dark   unless   another   employee   stands   at   the   lobby   door   and   watches them go and return.  This is to ensure that no one can use them to gain access to the restaurant. We   do   not   allow   any   type   of   HARRASMENT.      That   includes   racial,   religious,   sexual   or   anything   else   that   makes   an employee   feel   uncomfortable.      If   you   feel   you   are   being   harassed,   inform   your   RGM   or   your   Area   Coach   or   call   the Restaurant    Support    Center    at    1-800-412-8226.    We    investigate    every    complaint    of    harassment ,    but    we    cannot investigate if you do not inform us. Violating any of these rules can and in most cases will get you fired.  We want B&G to be a quality place to work where each of you feels respected.   We will not condone any other conduct… If you are aware of anyone violating any of these rules…Please let us know…we want to make your work experience as nice as we can.  Greg Hamer
